Can you recommend any fantasy or sci-fi series that I might try?
What I'm not interested in -- Harry Potter, Twilight or Game of Thrones. I'd consider pretty much anything else as long as it's not found in the "Paranormal Romance" section at Barnes & Noble. Give me something with girth and weight. I want to sink my teeth into a totally new series of novels. I've had my eye on the Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb for a while and I think I'm about to take the plunge.
For a point of reference, one of my favorites is the Book of Swords series by Fred Saberhagen. If it involves various magical swords/weapons/artifacts, then I'd probably enjoy it. I've also read a half dozen of the Xanth books by Piers Anthony. They're a hoot!
Let's hear your suggestions!
